An easy to knit spring cardi worked from the top down in one piece in the exquisite Road to China Light from the Fibre Company.

The panel at the center back and the collar are worked in a simple smocking pattern.

Yarn:
  • Road to China Light by The Fibre Company (65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, 10% cashmere; 50 gram skein = approx 159 yards)
  • 5 (5, 5, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 8) skeins, color Garnet
  • Approx yards needed: 690 (730, 780, 850, 910, 1010, 1070, 1140, 1210) yards
  • Needles:
  • Body: One 29” circular (cir) needle size US 5 (3.75 mm). (Piece is worked back and forth in rows, circular needle is used to accommodate the large number of sts)
  • Collar: One 40” cir needle size US 5 (3.75 mm).
  • Sleeves: One set of double pointed needle (dpns) size US 5 (3.75 mm).
  • Other Materials:
  • Stitch markers, Stitch holders or waste yarn
  • Sizes:
    31.25 (34.75, 38.25, 41.75, 45.25, 48.75, 52.25, 55.75, 59.25)” circumference at bust.
    Gauge:
    23 sts and 32 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch.
